I just listened to a
podcast review of the new book: "Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S.
Government's Secret Plan to Save Itself - While the Rest of Us Die", and
found it very interesting to learn about huge bunkers deep in the mountains in
the US, the size of small cities, fully functional with 3 story buildings and a
capacity for over 5,000 people.
It's comforting to know
that the government will survive a nuclear war, comforting for them that is.
What I found humorous is
that the 5,000 "chosen" are not allowed to bring their wives and
family. That will be fun to watch. Picture a helicopter landing in a soccer
field, picking up a cabinet member while he waves goodbye to his wife and
children forever.
What's even more humorous
is that they are allowed to bring their secretaries! Humm... Betcha the wives
aren't going to like that rule!
