2016/02/18 – Where to Invade Next

I just got home from seeing the latest Michael Moore movie, “Where to Invade Next”.

This is a powerful movie, and the timing is perfect. The movie visits a bunch of different developed countries (Italy, France, Iceland, Tunisia, Slovenia, Finland, Germany, & Norway) and compares education, school lunches, prisons, vacation time, crime, drug use, happiness, etc. with the United States.

One of the things that really impressed me was that in countries with free education and no private schools, that there is no shopping around by parents to get their children in the best schools. All the schools are the same and because of that, rich people are much more willing to pay higher school taxes when their children have to go to the same schools as everybody else. And these kids are getting school lunches that look better than some of the meals I get when I eat out!

The movie also shows how our major corporations are taking advantage of the mass-incarceration of African-Americans for minor drug charges, resulting in a new form of slavery.

Anyway, go see it, I highly recommend it as an eye-opener.

Later,
Steve
