2016/05/05 - Trophy Kids, Prophets of Doom

I just finished watching a Netflix movie “Trophy Kids”, which my friend Jeff recommended.

It showcases 5 child athletes whose parents are pressuring them to become professional.

It’s actually pretty scary to see some of these psycho parents and listen to their rationalizations. One parent believed it was God’s will for her twin boys to become champion tennis players.

The sad part is that the kids aren’t enjoying it. I remember a day when kids joined their high school teams to play and have fun. Now it’s become more like work and more pressure than schoolwork.
.....

When I think of radical religious extremism, I think of ISIS or Al Qaeda, but not Christianity.

Prophets of Doom is a podcast story of torturous public executions that’s almost too insane to be true.

It’s about 16th century Catholic and Protestants in the German city of Munster after Martin Luther unleashes a Pandora's Box of religious anarchy with the Protestant Reformation.

Later,
Steve
