For me, this has always begged the question "Is there fake mayonnaise?"
As it turns out there is!
Sec. 169.140 of the Food and Drug Administration's Code of Federal Regulations lists the ingredients that a product must have in order to call itself "Mayonnaise".
Alas, Hellmann's mayonnaise qualifies!
Unfortunately Miracle Whip does not, therefore it is not real mayonnaise.
PS: Isn't it sad that these are the type of things that I wonder about?
